Maggie Stares

I’ve got a Golden Retriever, Maggie. I’ve talked about her before… I’m Dan Hansen and this is a Minute at RepcoLite.
Maggie’s a great dog, but in her own quiet way, she can drive me absolutely nuts. If she wants food, she stares at me. If she wants to go outside, she stares at me. When she wants water, attention, to play . . . anything . . . she stares. Long, hard, unblinking stares. The kind of stares you can feel through closed doors. It’s overpowering. And I sometimes find myself getting really annoyed. I just want to be left alone for a few minutes of peace. I don’t always want to be pestered by the dog of all people.
Then yesterday I heard that a friend of the family lost their dog. Without any signs or concerns, he died. Heart issues. A stroke. Who knows. The dog was 9 or 10 and woke up that morning and then two hours later was gone.
I heard that and realized Maggie’s quiet persistence when she needs me isn’t such a big deal. In fact . . . it’s pretty great. I’m Dan Hansen and that’s a Minute at RepcoLite.
