Great Tape Results, Part 3

Transcript:

Do you use masking tape on your paint projects? Have you had good results . . . or have you done all the work of taping only to be disappointed? I'm Dan Hansen and this is a minute at RepcoLite Paints sponsored by Benjamin Moore.

I know I have. I've gone through all that work and then pulled the tape expecting to see clean, sharp lines only to find that paint bled under the tape. It's frustrating. And tough to fix. To help you avoid that on your own projects, we've been talking about some tape tips.

I've got two final ones. First, after taping your surface, run a putty knife or a similar tool along the edge to secure it. Sealing that edge will minimize paint bleed. And use the putty knife--usually, your finger isn't enough!

Last thing: when possible, remove the tape after the paint becomes tacky but before it fully dries. Slowly pull at a 45 degree angle for the cleanest line possible--and don't let wet paint on the tape find its way onto other surfaces! For more info, head to repcolite.com and check out our latest blog post. I'm Dan Hansen and that's a minute at RepcoLite.
