Benjamin Moore just released their Color of the Year for 2023 and it's a doozy. I’m Dan Hansen and this is a Minute at RepcoLite.
The color this year is called Raspberry Blush and to quote from Benjamin Moore’s website, it’s an “unapologetic shade of red orange that had them thinking bold, bolder, boldest.”
And that's just the Color of the Year. Much of the rest of the palette is equally saturated, equally bold. Sure, there are a couple relatively neutral-ish colors but most of the palette features a LOT of color.
In various parts of the country, these colors will likely be received with open arms. I've read articles from many designers who are excited. They’re tired of the grays and the neutrals, the muted tones and quiet hues.
But trends move slower in the Midwest. We aren't what you'd call "early adopters." And the initial scuttle I'm hearing out here is that the color palette is, to put it bluntly, ugly. Well, I’m still processing the color, but there’s definitely one thing that we can all take from it–and it will help each one of us in our interior design choices. We’ll start working through it next time. I’m Dan Hansen and that’s a Minute at RepcoLite.
